There She Was ...

There She Was … The doors opened and she stood there in her flowing satin-white wedding dress – ‘ His Love … His Angel ’

It had been just 2 months since their very huge and pompous Hindu wedding, but he had surprised her by planning a trip to Goa – a second honeymoon. It was not uncommon for him to surprise her with his ‘Surprise Weekend Getaways’ but this trip gave them the very welcome chance to get away from their hectic lives as professionals in the cut-throat competitive world. In the evening of the first day of their vacation, he made her sit on the bed of their hotel room. Kneeling down on one knee, and with a beautiful diamond ring in hand, he proposed to her saying “Now that we’re here on our second honeymoon, let’s make it more special by getting married again, in a different way, at a different place”. She raised her eyebrows in surprise and could just croak out a word – “Where ?!?”, to which he replied, “The local church”

The next day at around 9, they were both in the local church, she was exploring it, while he went to try and convince the priest to conduct the wedding. All the while he was explaining, the priest just shook his head declining, then as a last resort, he said “Sir, we were already married 2 months back, but just want to have a lovely wedding in a church, please just do this as a wedding gift for us …”. The priest finally smiled and his gentle eyes gave their approval. He assured the priest that they would be having the wedding at 1 that very same day and took his leave. When he told her about the priest’s acceptance, she jumped and hugged him in joy and they stood there embracing each other for a few minutes.

He was about to leave her at a store to pick up her gown and as she was getting out of the car, he whispered to her, “ Sweep me of my feet … ”. He went on ahead to get himself a charming tuxedo, to look good enough for his very beautiful bride.

It was 1 and he was waiting for her at the altar when suddenly the doors of the church opened bringing in light and then … There She Was … The light was falling on her fair skin and it accentuated her beauty many folds. She wore a very pretty satin-white wedding dress and when he saw her in the light, he felt for a moment that he was in heaven and looking at an angel – His Angel. She started walking towards him carrying a bouquet of white daisies escorted by a couple of cute little girls (the priest had arranged). On the path, he had sprinkled flower petals for his lovely bride’s walk to the aisle. He stood there, mesmerized by her beauty, when she smiled her very gentle smile, and it was this smile that had made him realize long ago that she was the One. This very smile had the power to make all his worries vanish in a trickle of a second. This smile had made him a stronger, better man and had given him the strength and courage to face this world with renewed energy. Before she entered his life, he was this lost soul, plunging forever deeper into darkness everyday and it was she who had come as an angel into his life to rescue him and bring him light, to make his life worth living every waking moment. That very day, he had decided to love her for the rest of his life and give everything to just make her smile. And now, there she was, smiling at him, her skin glowing with happiness, happiness that he had given her, happiness that he was proud to be able to give to her. He stretched his hand, she gave hers in his and they stood there in front of the kind priest, waiting for him to start the ceremony. They finished their “ I Do’s ” and then they kissed. The kiss lasted for a mere couple of minutes but it felt as a lifetime. A kiss that brought together two souls that were destined to be with each other. As they parted from their kiss, he looked in her eyes, and in that very moment, he knew that life couldn’t be any better than this …
